Problems With Getting Online Or Using the Internet With the CECT P168 iClone - Common WAP Fixes

There's no question that the CECT P168 is still among the most popular iClones world wide. This is a great, user friendly phone that allows for everything that the iPhone can do for a fraction of the price. Set up on this phone is usually pretty easy (just insert your sim cards and sometimes change a few settings) and many sellers will set the phone up for your particular carrier. But, not every one is this lucky and sometimes, there are easily fixed issues with setting up the Internet and web browsing. I will go over the more common ones (and how to fix them) in this article.
Are The Sim Cards Inserted Correctly And Is The Phone On The Correct Sim Settings?: This phone has two sim slots. This sounds elementary, but a common problem is that both cards are not correctly or fully inserted. And, some people will chose to use only one sim. If this is the case, make sure that you go in and change the setting from dual to single cards (also indicating if you are using slot one or slot two.) Or, it's also possible that the previous owner was using two cards and you are only using one (or vice versa) so you will have to go in and change these settings. It's also common for people to forget to activate the sim card, as simplistic as that sounds.
Does Your Plan Or Sim Card Support The Internet And Web Browsing?: I can not tell you how many people email me and say something like "the phone and the SMS works fine, but the MMS and the Internet are a no go." Usually though, when I try to confirm that their network / card includes a data plan, there is often confused silence. If your card includes and supports only basic use like calls, email, SMS, etc., then the Internet is not going to work no matter what you are entering in because you aren't paying for it and don't have data included This is still a great phone for that basic use, but unless your card includes data, you can' t take advantage of this aspect of the phone.
Luckily, many carriers now include prepaid cards that include some data. The T mobile unlimited cards have become very popular for this. These cards often are good for 30 days and you can activate them whenever you wish. They often include unlimited calls, voice, text, data (Internet browsing), MMS, etc.
Did You Change The WAP And MMS Settings To Reflect Your Carrier?: Unless the seller of the phone asked for your carrier and changed the settings for you (or the old owner had the same network as you now have), you may have to go in and input your carrier's settings. So, look to see what your WAP and MMS settings are pointing to. If you see that you are pointing to anything other than your carrier (China Mobile is a common one), you'll need to change this.
Each carrier has specific HTTP, WAP, and port settings, to name a few of the more common changes. So, AT&T's are going to be different from T Mobile's or others. These settings are readily available from many sources. Resourceful entrepreneurs now sell not only the set up instructions and settings, but also downloads that makes this virtuously painless.
So, there's no reason that once you've pinpointed that your settings are old or inaccurate that you can't be up and running in just a few minutes. And, if you currently don't have a data plan, you can easily get one, sometimes for as little as $20 per month.
